Restore a backup

  1. Open Restore › Restore points

    Points are grouped by plan. Filter by plan, server, date and more; Restore proven marks points a drill has restored.

  2. Expand a point and click Restore… on the artifact you need

    Corrupt or missing artifacts offer no restore. Manifest shows what the run recorded.

  2. Restore type

    Files, Volume, Container or stack, Database - or download only.

  3. Target

    • Files and volumes: the server and path or volume to write to.

    • Databases: The original instance, under its own name; under another name; Another instance on another host; Another instance in a container; or A new container of the dump’s version.

    • If it exists: Fail, Keep what exists, Set what exists aside, or Replace it.

  4. Options

    The engine’s own options, and Validation queries - read-only, time-limited, each with the answer it should give.

  5. Request

    Check the summary, enter a Reason (at least 10 characters) and submit. Encrypted for recipients? Paste the private key and passphrase here - held in memory for this restore only.

  • Approval needed: the request waits on Restore › Approvals. You are notified when it is decided.
  • No approval needed: the request is approved at once; open it and click Execute.
  • The restore page shows stages, log, safety snapshot, validation results and every decision.
