§ Databases · Distributed SQL
TiDB backups, natively.
A logical Dumpling export, or a BR full backup pushed directly to object storage for large clusters.
What Xtic runs
tiup dumpling -h 127.0.0.1 -P 4000 -u xtic --filetype sql -t 8 -o /xtic/<run>Shown with placeholders. Credentials never appear on a command line: they reach the tool through the environment, a file descriptor or a short-lived file in memory.
Restore paths
- TiDB Lightning from the Dumpling export
- BR restore full from object storage
Verification
Dumpling metadata present; BR with checksums enabled. Every artifact is also hashed, and the stored copy is read back and compared before the run counts as verified.
Version rule
BR must match the cluster version.
Good to know
- Dumpling only accepts its password on the command line, so Xtic uses a short-lived backup user rotated after each run
- Licence and editions: Apache 2.0.
