§ Databases · Distributed SQL
YugabyteDB backups, natively.
A consistent SQL dump of each YSQL database with the ysql_dump from the server's own image.
What Xtic runs
ysql_dump -h 127.0.0.1 -p 5433 -U yugabyte --create mydbShown with placeholders. Credentials never appear on a command line: they reach the tool through the environment, a file descriptor or a short-lived file in memory.
Restore paths
- Replay with ysqlsh; under a new name, create the database first
Verification
Exit code and stream on every run. Every artifact is also hashed, and the stored copy is read back and compared before the run counts as verified.
Version rule
ysql_dump cannot dump servers newer than itself, so the tool comes from the same image.
Good to know
- Distributed snapshots and YCQL are covered by recipes
- Licence and editions: Apache 2.0.
