CockroachDB backups, natively.
CockroachDB's own BACKUP as of a few seconds ago into a fresh location per run, collected from the node.
What Xtic runs
cockroach sql -e "BACKUP DATABASE bank INTO 'nodelocal://1/xtic-<run>' AS OF SYSTEM TIME '-10s'"Shown with placeholders. Credentials never appear on a command line: they reach the tool through the environment, a file descriptor or a short-lived file in memory.
Restore paths
- RESTORE DATABASE … WITH new_db_name; a full-cluster restore needs an empty cluster
Verification
SHOW BACKUP … WITH check_files. Every artifact is also hashed, and the stored copy is read back and compared before the run counts as verified.
Version rule
Same or a newer supported version.
Good to know
- pg_dump does not work against CockroachDB; the native BACKUP is used
- Licence and editions: CockroachDB 24.3 and later needs a licence key — preflight warns when the cluster has none.
