§ Databases · Wide-column
Cassandra backups, natively.
A snapshot on every registered node under one tag, with the schema captured separately and the snapshot cleared afterwards. JMX and CQL credentials live in short-lived tmpfs files.
What Xtic runs
nodetool snapshot -t xtic-<run> -- ks1 ks2 # then tar the snapshot files and clearsnapshotShown with placeholders. Credentials never appear on a command line: they reach the tool through the environment, a file descriptor or a short-lived file in memory.
Restore paths
- Apply schema.cql, then nodetool import per table
- Into a scratch keyspace for checks
Verification
Snapshot files present per table; a sample count after a scratch restore in deep verification. Every artifact is also hashed, and the stored copy is read back and compared before the run counts as verified.
Version rule
Restore into the same major version.
Good to know
- Snapshots are per node and not globally consistent — Xtic snapshots every registered node under the same tag
- Licence and editions: Apache 2.0.
