§ Databases · Key-value
Valkey backups, natively.
Valkey is handled by the same provider as Redis with its own tools: the RDB snapshot streamed to Xtic, with a BGSAVE fallback.
What Xtic runs
valkey-cli --no-auth-warning --rdb -Shown with placeholders. Credentials never appear on a command line: they reach the tool through the environment, a file descriptor or a short-lived file in memory.
Restore paths
- Stop, place dump.rdb, start — in a maintenance window
- Selected keys through a temporary server
Verification
RDB header magic; valkey-check-rdb in deep verification. Every artifact is also hashed, and the stored copy is read back and compared before the run counts as verified.
Version rule
Valkey reports redis_version 7.2.4 — Xtic reads the real format from the RDB itself, never from that field.
Good to know
- Valkey 9 RDB files are readable by Valkey 8.1 only with relaxed version checks
- Licence and editions: BSD — no gates.
