§ Databases · Time-series
InfluxDB backups, natively.
The version's own backup command: the portable format on 1.x, influx backup with an operator token on 2.x, and the Enterprise backup command on 3.x.
What Xtic runs
influx backup /xtic/<run> --bucket metrics # 1.x: influxd backup -portableShown with placeholders. Credentials never appear on a command line: they reach the tool through the environment, a file descriptor or a short-lived file in memory.
Restore paths
- 1.x: into a new database with -newdb
- 2.x: into a new bucket, or --full to replace tokens and users after approval
Verification
Manifest present; a restore into a check bucket in deep verification. Every artifact is also hashed, and the stored copy is read back and compared before the run counts as verified.
Version rule
1.x portable format from 1.5 on; 2.x same or newer.
Good to know
- The 3.x backup command is Enterprise; InfluxDB 3 Core is covered by a recipe with the server stopped
- Licence and editions: MIT (1.x, 2.x); 3.x backups need Enterprise.
